Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the Research Lab and Project-based model?
The Research Lab is a monthly engineering partnership. You get a set number of development hours every month, and we work on whatever you need: AI integration, software updates, model training. It is ideal if you have ongoing technology needs. Project-based means we scope a specific deliverable (like a model migration or a new platform), agree on a fixed price and timeline, and work until it's done.
What counts as "one active task at a time"?
One active task means we focus on a single engineering request until it's complete before moving to the next one. A task could be a landing page, a set of app screens, a pitch deck, or any scoped piece of work. This isn't a limitation. It's how we deliver quality. Parallel work leads to divided attention. Focused work leads to better results, faster.
How does communication work during a project?
We're flexible. We can use messengers, email or your team productivity system like Slack, Linear etc.. You'll have a dedicated point of contact who keeps everything organized. We provide regular updates, share work-in-progress through GitHub repos, and architecture diagrams when needed. Our typical response time is within a London business hours (GMT+0).
How do unlimited iterations work?
Exactly how it sounds. We iterate and refine until the code or model meets the target performance criteria. No hard caps, no extra charges. We believe robust systems come from scientific iteration. The only thing we ask is that revision feedback is consolidated (one round of clear notes is faster than ten scattered messages).
Can I pause or cancel my Research Lab partnership?
Yes. We work on a month-to-month basis. There are no long-term contracts. If you need to pause for a month, just let us know before the next billing cycle. We'd rather have a flexible relationship where you stay because the work is great, not because a contract makes you.
What if I need more hours than my plan includes?
If you consistently need more, we'll suggest upgrading to the Pro plan or scoping additional hours at an agreed rate. If it's a one-time overflow, we'll handle it and figure out the billing together. No surprises, no hidden fees.
Do you only do research, or can you build the production systems too?
Both. We formulate the models and algorithms in our research lab, and build production-grade scalable systems. One team handles the entire process, meaning no context is lost between research and implementation. If you have your own engineering team, we deliver fully documented specifications, APIs, and model files.
Do you work with startups?
Startups are a big part of what we do. We've engineered products for early-stage companies in AI, fintech, and Web3. We understand startup constraints: tight budgets, fast timelines, and the need to impress investors. Our R&D-first approach saves startups money by validating technical architectures before committing to scaling development.
How much does a typical project cost?
It depends on scope, but here's a realistic range. An AI prototype or pilot agent starts from $3,000. An enterprise API integration or deep learning model optimization typically runs $4,000 to $8,000. Larger platform architectures and high-performance database systems start around $12,000. We always share a clear estimate before starting, and we break costs into phases so you know exactly what you're paying for at each step.
How fast do you deliver models and code?
Most software components and model milestones are delivered within 2 to 5 business days, depending on complexity. If a component is large, such as building an entire database architecture, it is broken down into subtasks. For the retainer, we provide progress updates every 48 hours or sooner, so you always know where things stand. If something is urgent, let us know and we'll adjust priorities. Pro plan clients get priority scheduling with faster turnaround.
